The Cammieverse

i'm okay
if you get me at a good angle
and you're okay
in the right sort of light
and we don't look
like pages from a magazine
but that's all right
that's all right

Countdown
Cammie's first week at the SGC is nothing at all like she was expecting.

[ Lt. Col. Cameron Evangeline Mitchell walks into Cheyenne Mountain at 0600 on a grey and dreary Monday morning, eighteen months, two weeks, and one day after they told her that she'd never walk again. ]

Invitations
It's not just about getting the band back together.

[ She also knows that no matter how much General O'Neill taught Sam, about command and about commanding, it was Teal'c of Chulak whom O'Neill always looked to in a pinch. ]

Adjustment Phase
It takes them all a while to get used to each other.

[ One of the nicest things about having Cammie for their team leader, Daniel has come to believe, is that when he (or Sam) says they should be doing something one way and Cammie had been planning on another, it's usually pretty easy to convince her that the other way is just as good. ]

Backup
Cammie and Sam face a few hard truths about life at the SGC.

[ And she found out something about herself this week that made her feel silent and ashamed, and she can't put off thinking about it any longer. ]

Platonic
Five times Cammie and Daniel sleep together. No, not like that.

[ She stares, for a long minute, at the afghan that she brought over when it became clear that she'd be spending more time here than in the apartment she rents. Hand-knit by her grandmother, Daniel remembers her saying. He's slept under it a few times, when she's not here. It smells like her, and it's warmer than it has any right to be. ]

Civilization
An afternoon off.

[ "It's a video game, Daniel." Cammie's perfected the "don't be silly, Daniel" inflection by now; she suspects it's gonna annoy the ever-loving shit out of him, the day he recognizes it for what it is. "Realism is not a selling point." ]

Domesticity
Housework is a sign of love.

[ "Ah," he says -- in the tone she knows damn well; it's the "making sure I'm not really hallucinating" voice, and she always wonders if she's gonna grow it over the years after a few more times of butting her head against plausible vs. implausible -- "Cammie? Why are you scrubbing the shower?" ]

Declination
Cammie's not entirely certain when her life turned into a comedy of manners.

[ What she wants to say is you wanna tell me what the hell crawled up your ass and died?, so she counts five before she says anything, and then keeps on going to ten for good measure. ]

Right Ascension
Right now, and for the first time in life, he is so hard that his hair hurts. (Adult.)

[ He's grateful for the fact that it's late enough to be dark outside, because just catching glimpses of Cammie's thighs out of the corners of his eyes while he drives, in the puddles of light from the street-lamps, is nearly enough to make him throw caution and reason to the winds, pull the Jeep over to the side of the road, and slake his thirst against every single inch of the skin she's got on display. ]

Contradance, by [info]ivorygates
Trust is a precious thing. Love even more so.

[ There are a few things they still don't talk about: she knew, going in (falling in love with Daniel was like going to war, she knew that from the start) that he had scars and capital-I Issues; nobody who'd been on a Gate Team for eight years couldn't. ]
