Dear saints alive, finally! I got an e-mail from Pluto saying that voting on the AFC is over. 'Blog for details - I'm getting to be a better diarist than I've ever been in my previous handwritten tries, I note to my astonishment - but to me this mostly means that I CAN FINALLY PUT MY FIC UP. Thank the gods. If there is a revote I shall laugh and laugh and ignore it; at least with e-mail technology I'm guaranteed no dimpled chads.
So, dears, here it is. The Dawn From Sixty-Nine Stories Up, dedicated to that quill-wielding angel !Supercat. Tell me what you think! And if I do not get the chance again, all the perma-marker chibi Schuldichs I've been scrawling on bathroom stalls around the city wish you a Happy Holiday Season. Even if writing Xmas fic with everyone's favorite German redhead turns out to be as rebarbative as trying to score "Krafft-Ebing: The Musical".
Weiss fanart, of all things. Note that I have been so far restrained as to not refer to this pic as "Pimp Daddy Brad and His Flophouse o' Love." ^_^ (Yes, you have to read the 'blog review to understand. No, it's not a terribly sexy picture - my family doesn't care what I write but 11"x14" drawings are hard to miss as well as hard to scan, and I'd rather not have to explain to my mother why I moonlight as a nanshoku shungaka. At least my dad gets paid to paint nudes.)
I suspect a monster was created when I realized I know how to draw Schuldich. Needless to say, I blame ALL on Tan-chan.
Put up my latest watercolour. It's a prezzie for Tan-chan but she won't see it - she never visits here. I send her all my fics by e-mail, which she never answers either. OTOH she cooks for me. ^^; Ah, what friends we make, for the life of us...
Now, I know that no one ever bothers to steal fanart, but I have a premonition about this one - I usually have an accurate feel for who will like my stuff and to what extent - so I wrote up my policy on such things, briefly. And no, it isn't a YOU CAN'T HAVE IT.
The fic will be up when the contest's over. The essay will be up when the current edition of Aesthe has run its course. Hope I finish something before then, but hope only. ^_^ And dagnab it, sign the guestbook!
Kyaa~aa, I finally finished a fic! *dances about* It's for the Aesthe contest, so you won't see it here for ages. You can always go volunteer for judging, though you won't know it's mine. (That being the point and all. ^^;) Any updates between now and the New Year will prolly be fanart.
Outdoing myself with recs. Dreamsphere.net by one Rochelle Burns, who runs a number of webrings and MLs and writes superlative FF7 and Harry Potter. ^_^ Even her weblog is fun to read. I joined her yaoi 'ring too. :)
White Fang, dear, not White Wolf. -_-; I hang around too much with Vampire: the Mascarade players. Here's another EDP mini-page: 1024x768 Wallpapers. I get tired of never seeing any at that size, basically, so I started making them for my own use. Only half a dozen so far, though.
Speaking of vampires, here's a Sabina-rec: Digital Midnight. My jaw dropped a foot when I realized that Black Rose - Heather Meloche, who ran the Anne Rice spec archive for cripes' sake - had segued into Harry Potter doujinshi, and J-rock 'net radio stations. O_o She was and is an outstanding artist, so this is my kick-ass karma at work. (Tabun.)
Yatto, a real update! ^_^ Uploaded the Utena layout and chapter 3 of Demi 2; reorganized the links and added weblog, poll etc. to the front page. Updated the Current Projects page, obviously.
Re-wrote the Introduction to comply with reality, and - *sigh* - because Fanboy A stumbled on this site through Google and told me I really needed a disclaimer. So I wrote one. Damned if I know if it's effective...
I'm terribly sorry about this. ^^; The truth is that everything publishable has been going to Aesthe, either for the next zine number or for the fic contest, and as soon as I can decently get it all up here I will. (Prolly for New Year's. ^^;;;) Meanwhile, I got myself a weblog and tweaked the links. There's also going to be an update in Creative Corner soon - wallpaper and games and stuff - if you care.
And no, you're not going insane, I added a new second paragraph to MitM. :P I discovered it while going through the pile of scrap paper in my basement, looking for something I could do Chomsky Normal Forms on, and thought it was too pretty to just throw away.
Now that traffic's steady, time to start satisfying my own curiosity: I've put up a poll. ^_^ It's a bit of a mini-essay I know, but please do go and vote!
Still alive, still wondering what the **** I'm doing in this major of mine. (Actually, the answer is easy. At the going rate of 1 1/2 page a week that's 75 pages a year that's three bloody years to finish a novel-length work. And then I still have to sell it. Whereas programming Java or XML is a real job.) Anyways, no real update, couple of tweaks here and there, n' an explanation in the Current Projects for what I've been doing since the last update.
Didn't see that coming, did'ya? :P I couldn't stay sky blue for long. Sky blue is too... nice. Not sure what's up with the present fic(s). Basically in the stage where my subconscious works on'em like busy elves, but fails to keep me informed. *sigh*
Links are up, and a Current Projects page to keep you hopeful. ^_^ The next story (the FF7 one) should be finished by tail-end of month, barring sudden disaster or Seifer Almasy jumping out of my screen Sadako-style and No Mercy-ing me to Iqaluit for cussing him. Watch for another installment of Demi 2 as well.
New fic, a pleasant bit of FY id-candy called Ofuro ni Hairou?
To the people who sign the guestbook: I don't know what the protocol is, I've never had one before. Am I supposed to mail you back? ^^; At any rate, your encouragement is a BIG upper. My stories are to me what hips are to most girls - I need other people to tell me they're okay, because they will never look okay to me. Notice how my updates seem to happen after a guestbook entry? There's a reason for that.
Webrings page up, links to come. At least there aren't any more broken links on the index page. Ouf...
Essays section up. Link back to EDP [anime] on the index page.
A rec of my own: Kestrel's Music Videos. Has among others the droolsome Touga / Saijonji vid that won a prize at Shoujocon... (what does it say about a show when a little red car gets all the action?)
Z107M's highly pwetty doujinshi Mizi Xia's Redemption (a riff on an ancient Chinese subject, with modern statement & coda). The second chapter of Demi 2, in draft version. Also Peregrine Vision's MKR fic Farewell, to inaugurate the hosted fiction section. ^_^
What's new? Mon, everything's new. This is a new site. ^^; Go to version info for details. Most of the fiction and artwork sections you'll recognize if you're a frequent visitor to the EDP beta page, but I don't know how many of you there are. (There are some of you. I get e-mail. What I don't know is proportion or number. I really need to get over my counter paranoia...)
