Reposts of my old Aesthe articles, and other random this-and-thats. For a long time this sort of analysis has been going toward weblog entries; I may clean a few of them up and repost them here, but it's fairly low-priority. :P
In which I attempt to prove to a slash/origfic author (Manna, with particular reference to the Administration Series, which you should all read) who came up through Britslash and had never watched anime that she committed inadvertent yaoi - and was not laughed out of court, apparently. Of wider interest because I basically had to set down my own coherent definition of "BL/yaoi" to make my argument. Email conversation posted publically with permission (albeit more than a year after the fact ^^;). Some mild spoilers for Manna's novels.
Man, this is old. And it shows my fandom generation pretty clearly. Still funny, though. ...Did I mention old?
This inspired several people to create their own list. I kind of regret it, actually; the points are valid enough, but I've given up being dyspeptic about fandom.

This article was written, of course, based on superficial deduction. The latest word on the street is that Japanese women are socially conditioned to behave as described in reality as well, not just in hentai. >_>
Taking as basis a long and recurring discussion on AMLA regarding the differences between Japanese yaoi and Western slash, years ago (my, how time flies). So if it seems densely referential, that's probably why.
