****************************** * FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS * ****************************** ******************************** * HOW DO I CREATE A CHARACTER? * ******************************** While a given GM may allow stranger things, the standard Tyranny character is the child of Demon (Generation: 2), and a mortal, usually a human, or in rarer cases, two Demons. Therefore, the first step in creating a character is to choose the character's parents. Here are two sample characters. One will be the child of Semlan the Lion and a normal human woman. The other will be the child of Landrel the Oak and Usali the Chosen. So far, our character sheets should look like this: Name: _______________ Name: _______________ Father: Semlan the Lion Father: Landrel the Oak Mother: Human Mother: Usali the Chosen Powers: Powers: _______________ _______________ Weaknesses: Weaknesses: _______________ _______________ Appearence: Appearence: _______________ _______________ Personality: Personality: _______________ _______________ Artifacts: Artifacts: None None Children: Children: _______________ _______________ History: History: _______________ _______________ The next step is to choose powers. A newly created demon has one third of their parents' power points, and may spend these points on any powers their parents have, so long as they don't exceed the level at which their parents have those powers. Having a power at Minor, Major, and Full levels respectively costs 1, 2, and 3 points. As all Demons (Generation: 2) have 27 points worth of powers, a character with one demonic parent will have 9 points to spend, and one with two demonic parents will have 18. Our first sample character has only one demonic parent, Semlan the Lion. The following diagram helps illustrate how he can spend his powers: SEMLAN'S POWERS: m M F Call Kin (Full) ( ) ( ) ( ) Claws (Full) ( ) ( ) ( ) Growth (Full) ( ) ( ) ( ) Rage (Major) ( ) ( ) Regeneration (Full) ( ) ( ) ( ) Shapeshifting (Major) ( ) ( ) Strength (Full) ( ) ( ) ( ) Strength of Heritage (Full) ( ) ( ) ( ) Teeth (Full) ( ) ( ) ( ) Toughness (Major) ( ) ( ) POINTS TO SPEND: * * * * * * * * * Some examples of how these points may be spent: MY POWERS: m M F Claws (Minor) (*) ( ) ( ) Growth (Minor) (*) ( ) ( ) Rage (Minor) (*) ( ) Regeneration (Minor) (*) ( ) ( ) Shapeshifting (Minor) (*) ( ) Strength (Minor) (*) ( ) ( ) Strength of Heritage (Minor) (*) ( ) ( ) Teeth (Minor) (*) ( ) ( ) Toughness (Minor) (*) ( ) MY POWERS: m M F Claws (Full) (*) (*) (*) Growth (Full) (*) (*) (*) Regeneration (Full) (*) (*) (*) MY POWERS: m M F Claws (Full) (*) (*) (*) Regeneration (Full) (*) (*) (*) Shapeshifting (Minor) (*) ( ) Toughness (Major) (*) (*) However, the following expenditure is not possible: MY POWERS: m M F Claws (Full) (*) (*) (*) Regeneration (Full) (*) (*) (*) Toughness (Full) (*) (*) * Meanwhile, our other character both more points to spend, and a wider range of powers to choose from: LANDREL'S POWERS: m M F Claws (Full) ( ) ( ) ( ) Growth (Full) ( ) ( ) ( ) Horns (Full) ( ) ( ) ( ) Illusion (Minor) ( ) Regeneration (Full) ( ) ( ) ( ) Shapeshifting (Major) ( ) ( ) Strength (Full) ( ) ( ) ( ) Strength of Heritage (Full) ( ) ( ) ( ) Stretching (Full) ( ) ( ) ( ) Toughness (Full) ( ) ( ) ( ) USALI'S POWERS: m M F Answer Summons (Major) ( ) ( ) Assess Power (Full) ( ) ( ) ( ) Electrification (Full) ( ) ( ) ( ) Freezing (Full) ( ) ( ) ( ) Illusion (Minor) ( ) Imprison (Major) ( ) ( ) Lend Powers (Full) ( ) ( ) ( ) Rage (Full) ( ) ( ) ( ) Regeneration (Major) ( ) ( ) Restore (Full) ( ) ( ) ( ) Toughness (Major) ( ) ( ) Now, if we add these two lists together... POTENTIAL POWERS: m M F Answer Summons (Major) ( ) ( ) Assess Power (Full) ( ) ( ) ( ) Claws (Full) ( ) ( ) ( ) Electrification (Full) ( ) ( ) ( ) Freezing (Full) ( ) ( ) ( ) Growth (Full) ( ) ( ) ( ) Horns (Full) ( ) ( ) ( ) Illusion (Major) ( ) ( ) Imprison (Major) ( ) ( ) Lend Powers (Full) ( ) ( ) ( ) Rage (Full) ( ) ( ) ( ) Regeneration (Full) ( ) ( ) ( ) (/) (/) Restore (Full) ( ) ( ) ( ) Shapeshifting (Major) ( ) ( ) Strength (Full) ( ) ( ) ( ) Strength of Heritage (Full) ( ) ( ) ( ) Stretching (Full) ( ) ( ) ( ) Toughness (Full) ( ) ( ) ( ) (/) (/) POINTS TO SPEND: * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Notice that when both of a demon's parents have a power, the point levels are added together. Thus since both Landrel and Usali have Minor Illusion (1 point), our character has access to Major Illusion (1+1=2). Between them, they also have 5 points worth of Regeneration and Toughness, but as it is impossible to spend more than 3 points on a power, the surplus is moot in this case. Next, we determine weaknesses. A demon inherits every weakness possessed by a demonic parent, at the next highest level, plus a new dormant weakness if they have a mortal parent. SEMLAN'S WEAKNESSES: m M F LANDREL'S WEAKNESSES: m M F Mortal (Minor) (*) ( ) Mortal (Minor) (*) ( ) Pride (Dormant) ( ) Inanimate (Dormant) ( ) HUMAN PARENT USALI'S WEAKNESSES: m M F New Dormant Weakness Virtuous (Minor) (*) ( ) Feminine (Dormant) ( ) If both of a demon's parents shared a weakness, they would be added together as with powers. So if both of a demon's parents have Bloodthirst (Dormant), he would have Bloodthirst (Major) ((0+1)+(0+1)=2). Our characters, after getting their powers and weaknesses, now look like this: Name: _______________ Name: _______________ Father: Semlan the Lion Father: Landrel the Oak Mother: Human Mother: Usali the Chosen Powers: Powers: Claws (Full) Claws (Full) Regeneration (Full) Growth (Full) Shapeshifting (Minor) Illusion (Major) Claws (Major) Regeneration (Full) Weaknesses: Shapeshifting (Major) Mortal (Major) Regeneration (Major) Pride (Minor) Toughness (Full) Bloodlust (Dormant) Weaknesses: Appearence: Mortal (Major) _______________ Virtuous (Major) Personality: Inanimate (Minor) _______________ Feminine (Minor) Artifacts: Appearence: None _______________ Children: Personality: _______________ _______________ History: Artifacts: _______________ None Children: _______________ History: _______________
