Hehe, People Are Stupid

A friend of mine just pointed out that www.zelda.com has been taken down (I'm glad too), but there IS www.zelda.net which is perfectly safe. Anyway, onto today's rant.

I was looking at this page after that last update, and I noticed a few problems. First of all, no graphics, no frames, looks pretty lousy. Also, there's that little pop-up ad. That doesn't bug me, but it really bugs other people. The reason that's there is simple. I'm using Geocities. Why you ask? Well, there are a number of things you wouldn't care about, plus the fact that I currently get 11 megs, and since geocities likes cool pages, chances are if I fill those 11 megs I'll get even more of them. Oh, and yes I DO need that much space, I have other pages up here too. I won't link to them right now though because well, I don't feel like it. Oh, I also noticed that I don't have one of those little notices people put up because they don't want to be sued, sure, there really is no reason to have them, but they're fun to make!

Anything on this page that I talk about is probably copyrighted by whoever makes it. Chances are though I'm saying good things about it though, so count it as free advertising. If I bash anything, I'll be sure to give credit where credit's do.

Oh, I almost forgot, if the little popup ad there bugs you, just close the stupid thing! Really, I don't think anyone reading this is too busy to take the second it takes to close the window.

Permit me to make some social commentary. Appearently, recently one of those leagues of concerned mothers has done yet another thing to ruin the lives of us nerds. They distributed a checklist to POLICE STATIONS, to determine whether RPG players worship the devil. I don't have a copy handy, but I DO happen to have a couple entries memorized:

• What is your alignment? If you say anything along the lines of Chaotic and/or Evil, that means you worship the devil.
• Have you ever read the Necronomicon? This one cracks me up. The Necronomicon, as everyone SHOULD know but doesn't is a book the H.P. Lovecraft (or as I call him Hippie Luvcraft, I bet that would really tick him off) MADE UP so that the characters in his books could do research on all the evil things trying to kill them. Mostly it's about Cthulu, who was also made up by Hippie. Anyway, the point is (except for some books a few people made in the 60s as a joke) the Necronomicon isn't even a real book. Hmm... WHO can't distinguish between fantasy and reality?

That's all I can think of from it right now, but it probably also has questions specificly geared towards all the "evil" RPGs, you know, Call of Cthulu, Beyond the Supernatural (which come to think of it is pretty much a rip-off of Co'C), everything by White Wolf, Ravenloft, heck, probably even Rifts. Hmm... I wonder if they REALLY went overboard and decided to count console RPGs too, if so they were PROBABLY dumb enough to think that the Resident Evil games are RPGs (no disrespect to the REs, they're great games, just not RPGs, I classify them as Action/Adventure myself, and yes, by adventure I DO mean Graphic Adventure/Text Adventure, I'm not going into that classification by theme deal).

Anyway, I'm sure you all agree that this whole thing is so stupid that it's hilarious. I mean, for starters, you don't do what your RPG characters do in real life! That's what's called LARP. No, I have nothing against LARPs. I'm just saying that just because I write an adventure for an RPG about undead, or, say, play a Chaotic Evil mage stuck on a party full of Paladins and such (try it some time, it's a blast), doesn't mean I'm going to go running around the streets uh... what? Raising the dead and throwing fireballs at kobolds? Heck, far from it, call it catharsis. You get all that evil out of your system.

Also... is anybody really so stupid and/or brainwashed to think that anybody ACTUALLY worships the devil? Seriously. What a HORRIBLE religion that would be! "I know, let's pray to an entity that has clearly been identified as a non-god instead of following our parents religious beliefs! Also, let's kill people as sacrifices to it! Yeah! Maybe if we do a REALLY good job, when we die, we'll get to go to hell! Then we'll get to be tortured in horrible ways for all eternity! Woohoo! Oh, and let's also spend a couple hundred dollars on books, and spend ours reading them, so that we can have concrete rules to PRETEND to do all this stuff when we aren't doing it! Sure, pretending to do an hour's worth of evil deeds will take us the 20 times as much time as it would do actually do it, and nobody will actually get hurt, but that doesn't matter! It's still evil! Oh yeah, while we're at it, let's by EVERY piece of black clothing we can find and wear it, AND make every nerd and quite kid in the country join us! Yeah! Surely this is the True Path!"

See how absurd it sounds now? Actually... come to think of it, and I could be wrong because my family isn't religious at all so I don't know anything one would learn in church, but why would "the devil" be evil anyway? I mean, isn't punishing evil people a good thing to do? In fact, wouldn't he want people to do good things so that he wouldn't have to waste his time torturing them?

I better not say anything about Christianity anymore, I might offend people. I can still talk about Bal though, the last time I checked it was a Carthagenian god, which means nobody worships it anymore. Bal Bal Bal Bal. Follow the bouncing Bal. Well, that's enough ranting for today.
