News and Updates
Looking at the last panel of Issue 1, Chapter 3, I am decidely annoyed at the fact that about an hour
of fine tuning failed to give Resphee a decent torso, while meanwhile a hastily drawn guideline gave the
corpse in the yellow shirt a wonderfully shaped back. In the interest of getting some decent experience
with full body shots and detailed backgrounds, I'm going to dedicate as much free time as I can find to
cranking out some of what I believe are known as "pin-ups." I figure with any luck I might even end up
with sketches I can give away as prizes or something. If anyone has any odd suggestions for'em though,
like a closeup of Blinky, or even something as inappropriate as Cheiral at the beach in a bikini, or even
worse, Resphee sans hat, feel free to fling'em at me.
Big Survey Question! A large number of people have been coming at me with two big complaints.
1- Anecrophilia panels are too small. 2- I should use pngs instead of gifs. So anyway, I through together
a quick little comparison for you to check out, then make a case to me
for what you'd like to see in the future.
Issue #1 is about half-done at this point in time, and my pace is picking up quite a bit. In the
meantime however, I have decided to post The Official Anecrophilia Fan Art
Guide. Seeing how many people I know who enjoy doodling characters from everything around them, and
taking into consideration the fact that they're all much better than I am, I have put together this handy
fact sheet, containing all the various details that may not come through due to my incompetence. It also
can serve as a source of extra info on various characters if anyone really cares.
As one might have guessed, posting a fan art guide has caused fan art to
spontaniously pop into existance, despite the fact that the first issue isn't even complete and nothing
particularly interesting can be found in the third of it currently online. Suppose I should reformat
this here index some time soon.
P.A.Q.
(Potentially Asked Questions)
- What is this?
Anecrophila. A manga style comic in the process of being created by me,
differing from most online comics in several ways. For example, none of the art is recycled, there's an
actual storyline, I'm not posting a panel at a time, and I don't plan to continue it for more than about
6 issues.
- Why the frell are you making a comic? You've said yourself you absolutely cannot draw countless
times.
Three reasons. Number 1- My muse is extremely demanding. 2- I like these concepts, and these
characters, and there's too many sight gags to just write this stuff. 3- I'd like to grow the ability to
draw, and this gives me some added incentive.
- "Anecrophilia?"
Latin derivation. A- The opposite of. -necro- Pertaining
to the dead. -philia Love of. Thus Anecrophilia: Love of the Undead.
- So this is a comic about someone who sleeps with zombies?
NO. You sick sick freak. Anecrophilia
is simply the story of a girl who finds zombies cute and cuddly and unfairly berated by the general
public.
- One of your characters is a "witch." As a practicing wiccan, I find this portrayal of my religion
to be extremely offensive. What do you have to say for yourself?
This is a work of pure fantasy,
set in a wholely fictional setting, not containing any religions from reality, but with a fair share of
organizations loosely inspired and named after bizarre preconceptions non-practitioners have of those
religions for comedic effect. Except I'm not really nearly that pretentious about it, and you should
loosen the frell up.
- In the first issue, you have a priest performing a marriage ceremony between-

question.
- Hey, what ever happened to that slime comic?
Approximately 7500 people decided to run with
the exact same concept, causing me to turn away in disgust. I might throw in a pseudo-cameo down the
road though.
- How long will it be before all of this is finished?
Well, that depends on a number of
factors, including but not limited to: How busy I am with work, how busy I am with games, how side tracked
I am by other creative products, how much people encourage me to keep up with it, how often I look back
on everything I've done and consider it absolute dren, how often I see or hear anything related to the
undead, and my general levels of self-esteem at any given moment. Doing some rough math, that probably
amounts to an issue every 2 years, but I could see wrapping the whole project in under 2 months of conditions
were favorable, or never touching anything here again. So if you care, drop
me a line and watch my page of rantings for mention of more content here.
- How do you go about creating a given issue?
People always seem to ask this when it comes
to comics. I really plan to change just how I go about doing this as time goes on, but if you must know,
I explain things here.
- How did the idea for Anecrophilia come about?
I covered this on the process
page already.
