Suikoden Drabble 1

"We must live for the moment," he tells me, "because it will never come again."

He still looks fifteen years old, even now. If anyone in this strange land saw the kisses we share, much less the rest, I've no doubt they'd try to have me brought in for indecency.

I wonder what his father would say, if he were alive to see this. He trusted me with his son, his young son...

But even should both of us live forever, he will remain my Young Master. And it was he who first pressed his lips to mine, who first worked a hand beneath my shirt. He's no little boy anymore, but he is my Young Master, whom I am sworn to.

I died for him once. I left the home I loved, to serve him as long as I lived - and all of this was not for the sake of my oath to Master Teo. It was because I delighted in serving him, in seeing him happy, as I so rarely was until I came into his household.

And so I serve him in whatever way he requires, because he is my Young Master and my friend, and I want to lighten his burden. Both of us know, although we've not spoken of it in so many words, that soon enough I will be gone.

"Live for the moment" he says; though he'll have infinite moments to take advantage of, the few we have remaining together are precious indeed.
