Akabane is a transporter, hired to transport goods safely in dangerous situations. Occasionally he's hired to transport the same goods that the Get Backers are trying to acquire, which puts them at odds. Unfortunately, he is a skilled fighter who delights in violence, despite his soft-spoken nature.

Also known as "Dr. Jackal", his weapon of choice is scalpels, and he frequently works alongside Kudou Himiko and Maguruma Gouzou, who are also transporters.
