The Victor's Laurels

Yes, I know the "cute girly guy with wings" concept has been done to death since Sephiroth and the whole "One-Winged Angel" thing. And the angel thing in general was run into the ground with the Aeris and Rinoa pictures. But I don't care - Sydney deserves these wings. Despite his general creepiness and the fact he's a dark cultist, (invisible text, in case you haven't beaten the game) everything he's done is because he's trying to help his father. Rather than using his immortality and incredible power for selfish means, he's willing to give it up for his father - and in the end, when he willingly goes to his death, he seems so peaceful and content for the first time in the game. I think the Dark was more of a burden to him than a blessing, and it was a relief to be free of it.
So as far as I'm concerned, he's earned those angel wings. And, I... *cries* I love him. Darnit, Square - stop making fictional characters that I fall in love with! It's driving me insane!
*sigh* Anyway, this is the fifth picture of Sydney I've drawn. Only the third one I've inked, the second one I've scanned, and the first one I actually got as far as coloring before I became disgusted with it. Also the first time I've ever seriously tried to draw wings... I guess it's not bad for a first attempt. And partway through coloring, I realized it would make a sweet wallpaper, which is why it's 800x600. It's fun to stare at him on my desktop... ;)
