Penance

Mmm, Kain. Why have I never seriously drawn him before? It was sort of an accident that I drew this too, actually - I was just going to do a headshot of him to use as a Livejournal icon, then one piece of the armor led to another... based on a combination of the Amano designs, the character sprites, and a bunch of different (very different) interpretations by fan artists, plus my own imagination filling things in... and finally we have Kain standing up in the mountains looking kind of angsty (and kind of hot), like at the end of the game. Or something like that.
